STO began writing Happyman comics at 11-years-old after moving from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan to Lubbock, Texas. Twenty years later, in 2017, he delved deeper into developing his comic universe, unearthing new characters and an ocean of underlying meaning.

 

"It's taken thousands of hours, over eight years, to write this graphic novel," Stow comments, having only finished the storyline in late February, 2025.

After finishing the 400-hour solo edit of Captain Blue and releasing a limited batch of proofs, Stow turned down a publishing deal because he felt the initial arcana was too personal and should be made available for free.

 

Stow's follow-up comic--after learning and demonstrating how to create a comic universe from scratch--continues in his unique flavour of his first-person meta-narrative in Seamrise.
